An Object's Biography
Object Biography is an editorial design project exploring the life cycle of an everyday object. In our case, the toothbrush. Structured as a narrative journey, the publication moves from its origin and production to its social and political implications, and finally to its afterlife. Each chapter is accompanied by original illustrations, reflecting the object’s transformation across different stages of its existence.
An Object's Biography
The project began with research, tracing the toothbrush’s origins, production methods, cultural meaning, and environmental impact. To make the narrative vivid, we interviewed people about their personal connection to their toothbrushes, collecting playful and reflective testimonials that became part of the story. We then crafted a first-person narrative, letting the toothbrush itself guide readers through each stage of its life. I focused on illustrating its journey, creating visuals that capture both its mundane routines and dramatic transformations. Finally, we designed and laid out the publication, balancing text, image, and the toothbrush’s “voice” into a cohesive and visually engaging editorial piece.
